Purpose
The goal of this project was to identify The pain points of purchasing games on the Nintendo Switch console and identify a solution in which users can buy games with ease through their phone. The project also wanted to integrate the process of buying with an Apple Watch so that the gaming process is more streamlined and convenient. This Project was Experience Design 2 with Iman Hearing.
Methodology
We carried out an online survey with The assistance of Qualtrics and shared it on social media, and personal messages. Our population of respondents was those with a Nintendo Switch to ensure our data came from consumers who had first hand experience purchasing games in t he console.
Survery Design
The survey was designed to find out pain points of the Nintendo Switch game purchase process. The survey consisted of a mix of multiple-choice for gathering both qualitative and quantitative results. The user preferences and annoyance points of the current buying process were the main focus areas.
Implications
The findings suggest glaring pain points in t he Nintendo Switch game purchase process, ie, complexity in checkout and lack of saved payment options. A smartwatch and mobile integration can be a more convenient and intuitive solution, improving user satisfaction and convenience.
Using AI to Develop a User Persona
Part of our assignment was to use AI to generate a user persona, giving it a simple prompt. For this project we utilized DeepSeek.
We asked Deep seek the following prompt
“Help me create a UX persona for a 18-25 white woman who uses their Nintendo Switch a couple times a month and has a difficult time navigating the Nintendo E-Shop when purchasing games. They rarely interact with the Nintendo Switch while waiting for a download. They have purchased a game from t he Nintendo E-Shop in the past 1-6 months and have a credit card saved to the Nintendo E-Shop to purchase games. She wants to use an app to use the Nintendo E-Shop to download onto t he Nintendo Switch ”.
Visual Language
Solution
Our proposal presents an app design for t he Nintendo Switch E-Shop. This app includes a landing page to browse games, filtered searching, and a check out and download feature. This application bridges t he iPhone, Nintendo Switch console, and Apple Watch.
Conclusion
The Nintendo E-Shop has been redesigned to address issues such as difficult navigation, slow checkout, and long download times. The redesign includes a simpler UI, an integration of the Apple iPhone and Apple Watch to simplify t he checkout process with payment options, and tracking via apple watch. We also include a voice enabling feature, that is voiced by one of the characters of Nintendo, for t he user to interact with. These improvements make t he Nintendo E-Shop easier and quicker to use, allowing consumers to discover, purchase, and play games with less hassle and more enjoyment. The project emphasizes an ecosystem of devices to design for intuitive digital experiences.
